My father, an amazing man and mentor...
I was raised by a father who taught me to appreciate life, believe in myself, and be thankful for where I live. I grew up in beautiful Southern California enjoying all of the daily activities of living by the coast, and I value the splendor of our natural landscape as well as the craftsmanship of the surrounding architecture.
I knew that I aspired to create some form of art based on the beauty I saw in life. Developing multiple clothing boutiques as well as working as a fashion designer was my first passion. Excited in creating one-of-a-kind pieces, I loved working with unique fabrics and color and amazing textures, but later felt there was a greater range of inspiration in creating interiors. Little did I know that designing my own home several years ago was going to be such a rewarding experience. I have a wonderful husband and three delightful children, and it is very important to cherish every moment possible with them. My husband and I have created a home that is warm, livable, low-maintenance, as well as gorgeous. Now, I design for my clients with that in mind, and I am elated time and again when I hear how much they love their space, love to live in it and how well it functions for them.
Each day I appreciate all that I am given, and I believe that it is my father that fostered in me a heightened way of looking at the world. The creation of functional, stunning spaces for my clients is like a spiritual experience for me, and I would love to make your space a place that you enjoy living in and appreciate for your best years to come.

“I come from a family of antique collectors…
As a child I was frequently dragged to estate sales and antique auctions, when I would much rather have been playing with friends. But as I got older, I finally started to appreciate the fact that I was taught at a very early age about history and how a piece of furniture or art tells a story and was loved by its owner. Today, I take great pleasure in hunting down very special pieces, acquiring and restoring them, and then passing on their story to their new owners. I am also an advocate for protecting our environment, not wasting valuable resources, and not clogging up our landfills. Rescuing and reusing used and antique furniture is a great way of accomplishing this.”

Johanna studied four years at Design Institute of San Diego and received her Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Interior Design. There she studied such things as the history of interiors, color theory, space planning and the principles and elements of design.
Soon after graduation Johanna gained experience in the design of commercial and residential spaces, as well as in the design of model homes. Her main attraction to design is the ability to help others find happiness, comfort and satisfaction in their environments.
It is with this desire in mind as part of the design team of Sense of Style interiors that she applies the balance of color, texture, light and other elements in interior spaces to achieve the goal of satisfying the design needs of others.
